Hub-Specific Projects
Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) and University of Alaska Fairbanks Center for Alaska Native Health Research (CANHR) partnered to create an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Symposium series which included 8 twice monthly informative Zoom presentations attended by 180 participants, mostly by leading machine learning for healthcare experts in Alaska, from April to August 2022.
University of California Irvine, Indian Health Service (IHS) and the University of Colorado Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health (CAIANH) partnered for the Development of 4-year Dementia risk prediction ML model for AI/ANs to improve diagnosis and care.
- Clinic Chat, LLC, partnered with Clinica Teypayac (a Hispanic serving health organization) for 2 projects
- Artificial Intelligence Chat Bot to Assist LX Patients with Diabetes Diagnosis, Self-care and Management (April 1, 2023-March 16, 2024)
- Artificial Intelligence Chat Bot for LX Patients to Support Cancer Treatment and Management (Sept.16, 2022 – March 16, 2024)
- Latino Health Certificate and scholarship funding for three students enrolled with the collaboration of the University of Colorado’s Latino Research and Policy Center (LRPC) and the University of Colorado School of Public Health.
- University of California Irvine, Indian Health Service (IHS) and the University of Colorado Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health (CAIANH) partnered for developing Cardiometabolic Risk Prediction Among American Indian and Alaska Native Adults Using Machine Learning Approaches and Electronic Health Record Data.
- Hub Specific Project: American Academy of Epidemiology, Inc., is working with partners to develop Hyperferritinemia, COVID-19 Prediction, and Prognosis in Native American and Hispanic Dialysis Patients.
- Digital Stories: The goal for this project is to produce and Disseminate Digital Stories six (6) 7-10 minute digital stories that showcase the actual experience of American Indians and Alaska Natives in the acquisition, application, and dissemination of AI/ML methods to health problems consistent with AIM-AHEAD North Stars (behavioral health, cardiometabolic disorders, and cancer) relevant to Native communities.
- Workshop Series: The purpose of this project is to offer a 3-part Workshop Series by Duke Institute for Health Innovations (DIHI). This will be three 1½ day workshops, each building upon the prior sessions to yield small scale, highly feasible AI/ML research projects that 15 participants and their stakeholder organizations such as Urban Indian Health Organizations, Tribal Epidemiology Centers, Tribal health care systems such as the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Choctaw Nation Tribal Health Authority, AISES, and American Indian/Alaska Native SACNAS chapters, for example – will complete as part of their assignments, drawing upon data drawn from their respective organizations that otherwise would not be available to the AIM-AHEAD Consortium due to governance issues.
