Call for Proposals: AIM-AHEAD AIHEC Curriculum Development Program - Cohort 1

The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC), in partnership with AIM-AHEAD, is pleased to announce the release of the Call for Proposals for the AIHEC Curriculum Development Program, Cohort 1. This initiative will provide five mini-grants to support faculty at Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) in developing courses or modular content that integrates artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), data science, and health research.

Selected faculty principal investigators will have the opportunity to design and implement either a new course or a series of modules adapted from existing coursework. Content may span a wide range of disciplines—including computer and information sciences, engineering, nursing, behavioral and public health, and the social sciences—and will be hosted on the AIM-AHEAD Connect platform. This platform ensures broad access across TCUs, supports interactive learning through features like quizzes and discussion forums, and provides a culturally responsive virtual space that emphasizes Indigenous knowledge, tribal data sovereignty, and community-driven priorities.

Through this program, the curriculum will not only strengthen students’ technical skills in areas such as Python, R, health informatics, and predictive analytics, but also ground these tools in applications relevant to AI/AN communities. Courses and modules will be developed in alignment with accreditation standards, institutional goals, and workforce needs, while fostering collaboration across TCUs and partner universities. Faculty will work closely with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and the TCU Academic Community of Practice to ensure that all materials are rigorous, sustainable, and culturally grounded.

Applications are due October 13, 2025, by 11:59 p.m. ET. Notifications of award will be issued on November 3, 2025, with projects beginning as early as November 4, 2025

Please contact the AIHEC Program Helpdesk if you have any questions regarding your application.
